Our Survey Says
VAULT'S VERDICT:
Cohen & Gresser hires associates with experience under their belts, often from top BigLaw firms in the New York area. The firm receives stellar ratings for its culture, with associates describing the firm as “extremely collegial,” “pleasant,” and “laid back.” Hours seem to be more reasonable than the firm’s BigLaw counterparts. Associate/partner relations is a positive at the firm, though there could be greater transparency from the higher ups. Those who need hand-holding a la formal training won’t find it at Cohen & Gresser where most lawyers come in as laterals, but associates praise the firm for its mentorship opportunities. Quality of work gets stellar ratings, and associates are satisfied with their compensation. Overall, associates seem pleased with the firm’s diversity efforts as well as the firm’s commitment to pro bono work. Associates seem optimistic regarding their long-term careers, with one sharing, “There are constant opportunities for business development,” and another noting that the firm is not “up or out.”
