SUMMER PROGRAM

Our summer associate program is our primary source of hiring for first-year associate positions. Our hiring philosophy is simple: we want smart, ambitious, accomplished students who are eager to deliver high-caliber work and contribute to the culture of the firm. Our summer program is designed to fully immerse you in Stradley Ronon – to work with us, play with us, learn from us, and most importantly, to let us learn about you. Over the course of your summer with the firm, you will be exposed to challenging work, great people and the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a practicing attorney at Stradley Ronon. Our summer associates are essentially treated as first-year associates – receiving the same level of work and the same guidance and direction from supervising attorneys as our first-year associates. We try to match each assignment with the summer associate’s practice area interests in mind. In addition to traditional research and writing assignments, summer associates frequently participate in court appearances, closings, depositions, case strategy meetings, client meetings, and much more.

Our summer program calendar is also filled with social events, both formal and informal, to help acquaint our summer associates with one another, with our attorneys and staff, and with the communities in which we live and practice. Each year, our summer associates join our attorneys in a community service activity. Most recently, we volunteered as guest chefs, preparing and serving a meal for families at the Ronald McDonald House.

OUR CULTURE

Time and time again, we hear that it is the people that make Stradley Ronon special, and we tend to agree! Stradley Ronon has grown significantly over the years – from a small Philadelphia firm, to one with more than 200 attorneys spread across 7 offices – but has managed to maintain its friendly, small-firm atmosphere. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to building a meaningful and fulfilling career. We believe this starts with getting to know you, not just as an attorney, but as a person. Meaningful, personal relationships between and among our attorneys provide the backbone of Stradley Ronon’s culture.

SMALL FIRM VALUES, BIG FIRM OPPORTUNITIES

Our attorneys routinely go head-to-head with some of the biggest law firms in the country. We might be small relative to many of these firms, but we are no less powerful. At Stradley Ronon, we pride ourselves on the work we do. This means delivering exceptional work product and being thoughtful and strategic about our approach to ensure that we consistently exceed our clients’ expectations.

We believe the size of our firm provides an advantage to our associates. As an associate at Stradley Ronon, you will not be just another face on a large team of attorneys. We staff our teams leanly to ensure that our associates are fully immersed in all aspects of each matter and are working closely (often one-on-one) with our partners and senior attorneys. Our associates quickly learn how to run a deal, litigate a case, and counsel our clients independently.  Some of the greatest training and mentoring our associates receive comes “on the job” from working directly with seasoned attorneys who are deeply invested in your growth and success.

We empower our associates to take control of their careers and approach everything they do with an entrepreneurial mindset. What are your career goals? Let us help you reach them! Do you want to become an expert in a niche practice area? Let’s talk about it. We will help you develop a career plan and get the training and education you need to develop your practice. As an associate, you will have opportunities to write, present, and educate others on topics that interest you. Are you interested in the “business of law”? Our law firm leaders are eager to teach you about our business, law firm management, and what makes Stradley Ronon so successful. We also want to hear what you have to say! There are ample opportunities to associates to get involved with firm committees and help us develop strategies around things like technology improvements, diversity, recruiting and retention. Whether you have been a Stradley attorney for two months or twenty years, your voice matters!

DIVERSITY

Stradley Ronon is committed to diversity for many reasons: because it provides a voice to the unique perspectives of all our attorneys; because it reflects the evolving face of the legal profession; and because it allows us to provide the highest-quality services to our clients, who are as diverse as we are. Most of all, though, Stradley Ronon is committed to diversity because we believe there is strength in the differences among our experiences and world views.

However, this commitment has no meaning if our diverse attorneys do not feel included. For that reason, Stradley Ronon provides all of our attorneys with an environment in which they can flourish and advance. This environment is created through collaboration and thoughtful discussion not only between our extraordinary group of diverse attorneys, but also among our diverse attorneys, the firm leadership, and allies of our diversity and inclusion goals. Stradley Ronon’s attorneys and staff believe that progress can only be made in an environment where the entire firm – not just the diversity committee – champions diversity and inclusion of all of its members.

All of us at Stradley Ronon believe our firm can be an example of the broader world in which we would like to live, a world in which many voices are heard and in which all of them are supported and embraced. We make progress towards this goal every day and we invite you to join our efforts.

COMMUNITY & PRO BONO

Stradley Ronon has earned repeated recognition as the top mid-sized corporate charitable giver in the Greater Philadelphia region. And while we’re proud of that distinction, our commitment to the communities in which we live and work is much deeper than dollars. That’s why you’ll find us participating in every aspect of civic and community life, often hand-in-hand with our clients. We also believe in the importance of providing pro bono legal services to nonprofits and the less fortunate. That is why we give our  attorneys up 50 hours of billable credit for doing pro bono work. We believe it’s our responsibility – and our privilege – to make a difference in the lives of those who could use a helping hand – and to perpetuate a “Culture of Contribution” that gives back for generations to come.
