Vault’s Verdict

 One of the best-known tech consulting outfits in the world, Accenture's recent focus on the strategy side of the business mirrors a shift not just in the consulting industry, but in the corporate world at large: the overdue recognition that, increasingly, an organization's tech strategy is its business strategy. Of all the firms at the top end of the consulting industry, Accenture is perhaps the best placed to take advantage of that shift, leveraging its already stellar reputation for IT-related work into a compelling case for also using the firm to unlock the strategic potential of that technology. Accordingly, in recent years the firm has been touting its abilities in business strategy and, more to the point, making the kind of hires that can deliver on those promises. Whether the firm's external reputation can evolve as nimbly as its business model has in recent years, however, remains to be seen.
