Adaptive Physical Education Specialists

Work Environment

Most adaptive physical education specialists work in school systems for students in kindergarten through high school. Some may work in pre-schools and early childhood education centers, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or hospitals. The work is physical as well as mental. Specialists must have good physical skills as well as clear communication skills to instruct and guide students and listen closely to them throughout the exercises. They work with individuals and groups, as well as with other specialists to help students improve skills and achieve goals.
