Overview

Neuropsychologists and clinical neuropsychologists diagnose and treat disorders that involve physical injuries and diseases which have affected people's cognition and behaviors. They conduct research, administer programs, and provide education and counseling to individuals and families. They examine individual and group behavior through testing, experimenting, and studying personal medical histories. Neuropsychologists and clinical neuropsychologists normally hold doctorates in neuropsychology and are licensed to practice in their state. Approximately 14,220 psychologists, all others not listed separately by the Department of Labor, are employed in the United States.
