About Union Pacific Year-Round Internship Program

At Union Pacific, interns receive a mix of work experience, professional development, and networking opportunities. These include the chance to connect with senior leaders, participate in community philanthropic events, and engage in department-wide meetings. Interns get the chance to work on challenging, real-world projects within the company, getting firsthand experience and support along the way.

Union Pacific offers summer, year-round, and hybrid internship positions to students of all majors. The company also uses what it calls a “school-agnostic” recruitment model, meaning that it uses programs like Handshake, Symplicity, LinkedIn, and both Employee Alumni and Intern Ambassadors to reach students from a wide range of universities. Hiring events at college campuses take place from September to November, and then again in the spring.


* College graduate with a grade point average of 3.0 or above
* Degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or other technical areas of study
* Strong communicator who is goal and task oriented, and enjoys working in a team environment
