InStep: My Experience as an Infosys Intern
My name is Dylan Kyle, and I am a rising senior at the University of Connecticut. This summer, I had the pleasure to intern at the Infosys Hartford Innovation Hub as a part of the Instep internship. This internship gave me incredibly valuable lessons and experiences I believe will greatly help me in the future as I navigate the business world
My time as an InStepper was spent working diligently on health insurance market research. My team and I learned what it meant to be a business analyst, and we used agile methodologies to work as a team in achieving our weekly objectives. Our summer team project was to research and recommend solutions that would help increase insurer profitability.
Outside of our daily objectives, I was hard at work to make sure I maximized my learning opportunities as I navigated a new world full of opportunities. My project manager was generous enough to take the team to visit the Infosys office on the 79th floor of One World Trade Center in New York City. This was an amazing experience that opened my eyes to the broad reach and global impact that Infosys has as a company. I really enjoyed learning the ways that other people in other offices make an impact through their work.
On top of the memorable NYC trip, participating in BizHacks Global was another valuable learning experience for me. BizHacks Global is the annual 24-hour hackathon for all the InSteppers spread across Infosys offices during the summer. Both interns and Infosys employees from around the world work together across time zones to tackle a problem statement at the intersection of business and technology. It was a fun and creative way to open my eyes to the world of AI, and I was able to learn about interesting technologies that I was not familiar with from my four other teammates during the global competition. I enjoyed collaborating with new people from different backgrounds. Our team was able to build an AI chatbot that had the capability to read from a set of PDF documents, and our innovation to help simplify the customer service experience landed us second place in the competition! On top of all of this, taking first place in the office ping pong tournament was a great way to show my passion for sports.
I would strongly recommend participating in this internship program if you want to learn more about business and technology, as well as what you are capable of. I will always be grateful for my time at Infosys, and I can’t wait to see what my future holds!
