Closing out Vault Law’s 2025 rankings season, the midsize rankings for regional prestige and quality of life are official, as is the 2025 Top 150 Under 150 list. Litigation firm Susman Godfrey LLP kept the No.1 spots in the New York and Texas regional rankings, and Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP did the same in the Chicago rankings. Bookoff McAndrews PLLC, a Washington, DC-based patent firm focusing on patent counseling and prosecution, was the No. 1 Best Midsize Law Firm to Work For.

“Susman Godfrey’s record year in 2023 had a ripple effect on its prestige rankings—holding No. 1 in New York, Texas, and Litigation Specialty, while jumping to No. 28 from No. 40 in the Vault Law 100,” said Eric Stutzke, SVP and General Manager of Vault. This year, there were no changes in the top spots of the Midsize Regional prestige rankings, though new firms made the rankings in each region—in Chicago, Croke, Fairchild, Duarte & Beres LLC jumped in at No. 14 and McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP jumped in at No. 18 (tie); in New York, Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP took the No. 17 spot; and in Texas, Munck Wilson Mandala LLP tied for No. 12.

Bookoff McAndrews also earned the top spot in Vault’s Midsize Associate/Partner Relations, Firm Culture, Quality of Work, Satisfaction, and Wellness rankings. Other No. 1 firms included: Susman Godfrey for Career Outlook, Selectivity, and Transparency; Irell & Manella for Compensation; DTO Law for Diversity; Stotler Hayes for Hours, Formal Training, and Informal Training, Mentoring & Sponsorship; Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP for Pro Bono; and Edelson for Technology & Innovation. The 2025 Top 150 Under 150

The Top 150 Under 150 is Vault’s list of America’s leading small and midsize law firms with 150 lawyers or fewer. Vault created this list to recognize outstanding small firms. Three new firms joined the list this year, replacing firms that had merged or outgrown the list. This year’s new firms are Clement & Murphy PLLC,  Reid Collins & Tsai LLP, and Sive Paget & Riesel.
