Vault recently spoke with Duong Vu, a Technology Consultant at Ignyte, about his career path, what he enjoys most about his role, the types of clients he works with, and much more.
Vault: What does your practice area focus on, and how does it contribute to the broader mission of Ignyte?
Duong: As a consultant and developer, ideating and delivering technical solutions while taking advantage of ServiceNow is the focus and one of our team’s biggest successes. This line of work pushes our team to become advocates of making our clients’ business operation more optimal while being elite partners with the platforms we often use.
Vault: Who are your typical clients, and what kinds of challenges do they bring to your team?
Duong: State agencies are my typical clients and since these clients all bring different objectives, use cases, and end goal, it becomes a challenge. This requires our team to be adaptive to our solution that we bring forward.
Vault: What skills, experiences, or learning paths would you recommend to someone interested in your practice area?
Duong: Learning ServiceNow would be a great skill to gain as our team uses the platform the most. Any background that gives you opportunity to work with clients is always great. However, someone like me that did not necessarily have that kind of experience should be a person that is creative and curious. These two traits go a long way.
Vault: What led you to your practice area? Was it a planned path or a discovery along the way?
Duong: My time here was unplanned. However, I was always curious to be in a role where I can be the liaison between business and development. Now, I see how fitting it is for me to be part of this journey at Ignyte for my own growth and the growth of the team.
Vault: How is Ignyte innovating in your space? What opportunities excite you most?
Duong: Our team has been on an exponential growth in expanding the endless possibilities with what we do for our clients by actively being part of these communities at forums, conventions, and spaces that bring partners together. Our team never shy away from a challenge and we constantly keep enhancing our existing solutions. Because of our proactiveness, it brings more opportunities and the excitement is that these opportunities all come with different goals.
Vault: What do you enjoy most about your work—and what keeps you motivated?
Duong: Seeing an idea from the start and being involved in building it into the hands of our clients is the best part and is what keeps me motivated. Nothing beats seeing our clients using the solutions we built out for them.
Vault: How do you foster a culture of continuous learning within your team or among your peers?
Duong: Ensuring a wide portfolio of projects with different sets of objectives is a great way. Having team members the chance to work with one another throughout projects also allows the entire team to have a diverse set of ideas.
Vault: How has mentorship influenced your growth at Ignyte?
Duong: Coming from zero experience in consultant and the platforms that our team uses, I believe that the best mentorship I received was being curious. Curiosity leads to learning. Learning leads to growth and that kind of mentorship has shaped me.
Vault: How do you envision your career evolving at Ignyte over the next few years?
Duong: I see myself becoming the next line of mentors. I saw how far I have come from when I started and could see myself be the one that helps new team members grow—like a full circle moment.
