As one of the biggest names in sports tech and online gaming, FanDuel has undoubtedly built a strong reputation, and its internship program is no different. The FanDuel Summer Internship Program gives interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in its technology, product, and corporate business teams. In Vault’s 2026 Internship Rankings, the program ranked No. 15 for Best Tech & Engineering Internships. It also ranked in the top 20 for Best Internships for Quality of Assignments and Best Internships for Software Engineering & Development. So, what’s it like to intern at FanDuel? Let’s find out.
Inside the FanDuel Internship Program
FanDuel’s 10-week summer internship program gives students a unique introduction to the online sports betting and fantasy sports industry; a space that’s both highly competitive and rapidly evolving. The company hosts interns across its Atlanta, Jersey City, and New York City offices, operating on a hybrid schedule that typically includes two or three days in the office per week.
Interns join real project teams in technology, product, and corporate business functions, working alongside full-time FanDuel employees to build features, design user experiences, and analyze data in support of product decisions. The company also offers a robust suite of professional development programs, including resume and personal branding workshops, lunch-and-learns with executives, and weekly networking events that connect interns with mentors and senior leaders across departments.
Day-to-Day: Doing Real Work That Impacts Millions of Users
FanDuel interns aren’t going on coffee runs or sitting on the sidelines—they’re contributing to projects that reach millions of sports fans worldwide. Interns describe working on meaningful assignments that mirror those of full-time employees:
- “Our program has set us up with a buddy who has been part of the company for a while and is there to guide us and mentor us…Not only has my buddy gone above and beyond, but everyone else on my team has made an effort to help me out and provide feedback.”
Interns also praise the company’s open, collaborative nature, which encourages curiosity and self-initiative:
- “Everyone is open to you backseat coding [and] setting up meetings with people way above your pay grade.”
- “People are very friendly and willing to take time out of their day to help you [and] answer questions, so don’t be afraid to ask for help or feel like you are bothering people. [Just] make sure you’ve tried your best and put some effort forward so they know what you have attempted so far.”
Mentorship, Networking, and Professional Development
FanDuel’s internship program blends technical rigor with professional growth. Interns are encouraged to attend weekly social and networking events where they meet fellow interns, company veterans, and even members of the FanDuel executive team. Interns can also earn certifications and training through FanDuel’s learning programs. As one intern noted:
- “I received free certifications and trainings, got real work experience, and there is at least one networking event a week that I attend.”
This balance of professional development and real-world learning is one of the reasons FanDuel continues to attract top talent from universities across the U.S., from aspiring data scientists and product managers to future marketing analysts and UX designers.
Pay, Perks, and the Path to Full-Time Employment
FanDuel’s internship program offers interns competitive pay, offering not only strong hourly rates but also a sign-on bonus and access to company resources. Interns receive all the tech equipment they need to succeed and can work with their managers to adapt schedules for their hybrid setups.
More importantly, the internship serves as a path to full-time employment. Many interns are considered for return offers at the end of the program, as one participant shared:
- “It sounds like the company wants to hire most of the interns full-time. They said so on the first day of orientation, but we also have to earn it. Most of the interns are doing great work and are trying their best to secure the full-time offer.”
How to Land a Spot
FanDuel’s hiring process is designed to identify candidates who are not just skilled, but who embody the company’s values of curiosity, collaboration, and passion for innovation. Applicants typically go through a HireVue screening, followed by one or more behavioral and technical interviews, and finally a culture-fit interview with team leaders. An intern had this to say about the interview process:
- “Interviewers were very friendly, and the interview was not intense at all; it was pretty laid back and relaxed. However, I did learn that they were very, very selective during the interview process, so I think they were really looking for a culture fit.”
Candidates should expect to demonstrate problem-solving ability, teamwork, and an analytical mindset, rather than prior industry experience. In fact, interns noted that many of their peers didn’t have previous internship experience:
- “…A lot of interns had no prior intern experience, yet showed curiosity and drive to learn and build, which is very attractive to employers.”
If you’re thinking of applying for FanDuel’s summer internship program, consider running through some practice questions with a friend or family member. Here are some examples of questions FanDuel’s hiring team actually asks:
- “What is the probability you make 1 of 2 free throws from the free throw line if you shoot 70%?”
- “In 2024, Aaron Judge hit 58 home runs in 156 games. What is the probability he would hit 1+ home runs in a game?”
Of course, you can also study some common internship interview questions to get prepared, but don’t forget—interviewers will sometimes throw you curveballs to see how you deal with specific challenges or situations.
