About CALDWELL

Caldwell is a rapidly growing firm with a small but mighty roster of accomplished IP attorneys and technical specialists.

Recent and Rapid

Caldwell has been aggressively expanding since its conception with the first office opening its doors in Burlington, VT in 2016. The following year, the firm opened an office in Massachusetts, which has since grown and recently expanded to Boston’s John Hancock Tower. In 2021, the firm broadened its reach even further, opening a West Coast post in Santa Monica and its first international office in London. Caldwell’s rapid expansion has recently earned it top spots on prestigious ranking lists as the fastest-growing IP law firm in America for 3 years in a row.

A Deep Bench of Experts

As an IP specialty firm, Caldwell has built a thriving practice around patent prosecutions, patent litigation, post-grant proceedings, and patent portfolio strategy. Caldwell also has a strong trademark practice, including counseling and prosecution , licensing, and litigation. Clients range from startups to globally recognized brands, and the firm isn’t afraid to take on work in a variety of sectors—it has experience across industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, biofuels, medical devices, data security, internet technologies, process automation, mobile apps, social media, software, space exploration, and more. A strong bench of experts helps the firm tackle such a breadth—Caldwell attorneys and technical specialists have degrees in everything from pharmacy and neuroscience to physics and chemistry to electrical, mechanical, biomedical, and computer engineering.

The firm boasts a USPTO allowance rate—the rate at which the USPTO issues patents—of over 99%. It also handles post-grant proceedings ranging from inter partes review (IPR), covered business method review (CBM), post-grant review (PGR) proceedings, inter partes and ex parte reexams, supplemental examinations, and derivation procedures. On a global scale, Caldwell helps clients seeking international patent protection navigate the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and the firm is involved in more than 40 Section 337 investigations involving imported products.

Commit to Be Fit

Caldwell takes prides in fostering an environment of wellness. The firm offers free Equinox gym memberships for all employees, recognizing the importance of physical wellness for workplace morale and productivity. And if you browse the firm’s Instagram page, you’ll find a number of highlights demonstrating how individual attorneys and staff members make wellness a priority. Many are proponents of physical fitness and mindfulness practices, and managing member Keegan Caldwell himself shares that he runs a few miles every day and treats mental health as a number one priority.
