In 1985, seven Texas lawyers joined forces, leaving their large law firm behind to form Gray Reed in Houston. The firm’s reputation took off quickly, but it was built on more than just legal prowess: The firm’s softball team won the State Lawyers League softball tournament in 1986, and it proved to be good PR for the new firm. The firm quickly expanded to open a Dallas office in 1990. Most recently, the firm set up shop in Waco, opening its new office doors in 2020.
