VAULT'S VERDICT:

Based out of Oklahoma, Hall Estill is a firm with a team-oriented, pleasant, professional culture, despite a reduction in socializing due to COVID. The firm focuses their recruiting on schools local to their offices, but hiring is open to candidates with good grades across the country who fit the firm culture. Associates feel they are treated with respect by the partners they work with, and appreciate the bi-annual review process, although there is a sense that both formal and informal mentorship programs are not a focus for the firm at present. Associates note a lack of transparency from the firm, specifically referencing how management decisions were made in the last year and how attorneys can advance to the shareholder (similar to partner) position. Technology is a place where associates feel the firm has room to improve, especially providing platforms that promote collaboration and efficiency for practice groups and working teams. Associates report that quality, substantive work is available and evenly distributed, and feel there is reasonable flexibility as to where and when that work is completed, which is greatly appreciated.
