About Jackson Lewis P.C.

When you know what you're good at, you stick to it. Jackson Lewis specializes in the labor and employment law arena, and, with more than 950 attorneys, the firm has become one of the largest providers of employment law services in the nation.

Nationwide Presence

Jackson Lewis was founded by Lou Jackson and Robert Lewis in New York in 1958. Just short of 20 years later, the firm opened its first California office, extending its reach from coast to coast. But the firm’s quest for expansion really took off in the 2000s. With a staggering 60-plus offices across the country today, Jackson Lewis has set up dozens of new offices in recent decades and continues to launch new branches in unexplored regions.

Labor and Employment Focused

Jackson Lewis has practices running the gamut of employment law, including affirmative action and preventative counseling, and the firm is ready to tackle issues revolving around employee benefits, sexual harassment, labor relations, immigration, and substance abuse and drug testing. The firm works across myriad industries, including automotive, energy, financial services, health care, hospitality, insurance, life sciences, professional services, real estate, technology—to name some.

Jackson Lewis also offers clients practical tools to help them plan their employment policies and next steps. The firm creates customized workplace training programs based on clients’ specific needs, including simulations, webinars, and e-training. The firm is also home to the workthruIT ® platform, which includes a Leave & Accommodation Suite. The Suite features a database of laws, regulations, and guidance regarding leave; training modules; templates; assessment tools; and more.

All Rise

In 2021, Jackson Lewis launched a new mentoring initiative: RISE. The mentoring program is focused on ensuring that all associates at the firm have equal access to mentoring and is tailored by associate level. RISE includes four mentoring paths that target the specific goals of various associate career stages: RISE: Recruit, for the recruiting and hiring stage; RISE: Integrate, for new associates; RISE: Succeed, for second-year associates through fifth-year associates; and RISE: Excel, for sixth-year associates who are striving toward becoming a principal.

COVID-19 Update

We strive to provide summer clerks with a realistic understanding of what it is like to practice law at Jackson Lewis. Our summer clerks are encouraged to assume significant responsibility and are exposed to a broad range of practice areas and professional experiences. In addition to legal research and writing assignments, summer clerks often have the opportunity to attend significant events related to the cases to which they are assigned, such as depositions, court hearings, arbitrations, and client meetings. Our attorneys are committed to ensuring summer clerks receive feedback on their work product and take time to help summer clerks better understand what it takes to be a successful attorney at our firm. In addition, we sponsor cultural outings and other events during the summer which allow summer clerks to interact with one another and with Jackson Lewis attorneys in their respective offices.
