Our Survey Says

  • “As a summer you have the opportunity to work on drafting sections of dispositive motions and pleadings while attending oral arguments and depositions.”
  • “The bulk of my work as a summer was for one large, fast moving case which provided me with several substantive research assignments. I also got to participate in multiple pro bono assignments. The junior associate supervising my work provided me with detailed feedback on my assignments.”
  • “Our work assignment team was organized and made an effort to provide work to summer associates in which they had expressed interest.”

  • “Our social events were very creative given that the whole summer was remote. I came to my first day of work as an incoming associate/law clerk feeling like I already had a strong connection with many of the other first years, which was a testament to them but also to the summer program, even though it was virtual.”
  • “The firm does a fantastic job exposing you to partners in various groups, from different backgrounds, and with different interests.”
  • “I was a summer associate in 2020, and the firm did a great job under the circumstances of a fully remote, shortened summer program of having interesting, fun social events and allowing us to interact with as many attorneys as possible.”

  • “I interact with partners on a daily basis for almost every assignment which is a pleasant surprise. Also the ability to get work in the area I like is a plus!”
  • “The summer program prepared me very well for life as a junior associate at the firm.”
  • “I have obtained much more responsibility than I thought I would. I have done very little menial work but have drafted motions, letters, conducted meet and confers, and second chaired depositions.”

  • “A cocktail party at a partner's apartment and a baseball game.”
  • “Charades night, painting session, s’mores cookout.”
  • “Cupcake decorating, tipsy scoop, and all trivia events.”

The Firm Says

Our Summer Program provides students with quality work assignments and professional experiences reflecting the depth and complexity of our litigation practice. Summer associates learn firsthand by drafting legal documents, motions, and agreements, and are exposed to courtroom appearances, depositions, and client meetings. Our program also provides the opportunity to gain insight into the work and culture of the firm. Summer associates participate in formal training programs, a partner lunch series, and a mentorship program, all assisting in acclimation to the firm. Ongoing feedback is provided, as well as formal mid-summer and exit reviews. Kasowitz supports and encourages summer associates to engage in pro bono work and participate in offsite programs offered by legal services organizations and are supervised by an experienced attorney, receiving invaluable hands-on training. Kasowitz hosts and coordinates social and charitable events throughout the summer, allowing our summer associates to meet others at the firm in an informal environment.
