BPM Advisory APAC

Vault’s Verdict

BPM may be better known for its public accounting work than its advisory services, but the firm is one to watch. BPM opened its Bengaluru office in 2015 and since then the BPM’s Advisory group has broadened its reach within the Indian market and gained traction there.

Insiders within BPM’s Advisory practice applaud the firm’s supportive, inclusive culture. They say their contributions feel valued and that leadership is genuinely interested in their welfare. The firm also provides flexible hours and a generous PTO policy.

Indeed, insiders’ only gripe about BPM’s APAC presence is the compensation. However, that shouldn’t stop you from applying if you’re looking to build a consulting career with an up-and-coming firm in the Indian market.

Firm Culture

“BPM has a supportive and inclusive workplace culture where employees feel respected and valued, which enhances our overall wellbeing.”

“The best things about working at this firm are the strong focus on professional development, a collaborative work environment, and a supportive company culture. These aspects create a positive and engaging workplace where employees can thrive.”

“We foster a collaborative and inclusive culture where everyone's contributions are valued and supported.”

Quality of Life

“Leaders are approachable, communicative, and genuinely interested in employees’ welfare. The firm has opportunities for team building, social events, and community involvement that foster strong relationships and a sense of belonging.”

“You can simply advise that you’re taking time off, and nobody in the firm will question you about it. Instead, they will find ways to assist you and make sure you’re not bothered during PTO.”

“There are no restrictions on taking PTO, and we have flexible working hours.”

Career Development

“I get quality work, which keeps me motivated to work and learn new things daily.”

“There is a weekly brown bag training series.”

“A well-defined career progression helps employees understand how they can advance within the company, with clear milestones and expectations that make it easy to set goals and measure progress. Access to mentors and coaches can also provide valuable guidance, support, and networking opportunities. However, the firm has inadequate investment in formal training and development.”

“You get to learn a lot, and the leaders here encourage you to get hands-on experience so that your learning gets better.”

Community Engagement/DEI

“We provide equal opportunities for everyone, but we need to do more to promote the LGBTQ+ community and individuals with disabilities.”

“I believe we should implement more health and wellness efforts in the Bengaluru office. No one is talking about mental wellness and how important it is for our firm in the long term.”

Business Outlook

“We have clear, forward-thinking leadership and a well-defined strategic vision that inspires confidence in the firm’s direction and stability. Our increasing market share and entry into new markets suggest a competitive edge and growth potential. However, we need to improve our market presence in India given the competitive environment.”

“The firm has a good vision and future growth prospects.”

Uppers

“Good team members.”

“We get more opportunities to work and gain experience.”

“Flexible work hours.”

“Each day is a new chance to learn.”

Downers

“One challenge is the occasional lack of streamlined communication between departments, which can lead to delays.”

“Too much focus on billable hours goals.”

“We will need to standardize some areas of the practice.”

“Sometimes we have very tight project delivery timelines.”
