Founded more than 260 years ago in 1760, LR Advisory—short for Lloyd’s Register—originated at Edward Lloyd’s coffee house on Lombard Street in London. In 1764, it started publishing and selling subscriptions to its annual Register Book, which connected businesspeople of the time with surveyors to rate and class the condition of seafaring vessels.
Today, LR Advisory has evolved to become a leading provider of classification and compliance services to the marine and offshore industries. These include advisory services, classification and certification of seafaring vessels, digital solutions, statutory compliance, marine management systems, and maritime training.
