Eastern Orthodox Priests

Unions and Associations

Priests are not members of unions. There are several major groups in the Eastern Orthodox faith in North America. The Orthodox Church in America has dioceses in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, three seminaries, and 700 parishes, missions, monasteries, communities, and institutions throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is composed of an archdiocesan district—New York—and eight metropolises: New Jersey, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Boston, and Denver. It has 540 parishes, 800 priests, and approximately 1.5 million faithful. Aspiring priests train for the field by attending Hellenic College Holy Cross. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America has about 80 parishes in 25 states and one seminary.
