Stifel has two main student programs. The first, geared towards undergraduate students at earlier stages in their academic career, is the Headquarters Internship. The Headquarters Internship is a great first taste of the financial industry, and offers an experience full of excitement and chances to gain exposure to virtually all aspects of the industry. Interns have the chance to work in areas including compliance, operations, digital solutions, internal audit, marketing, private clients, and many more. HQ Interns spend much of their summer learning alongside professionals, applying their academic skills to various projects, participating in research, and assisting in preparation of reports. Applicants should be pursuing a degree in a field related to the area in which they apply, have an excellent academic record, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The second student program, designed for rising seniors, is the Summer Analyst program. Analysts, like HQ Interns, can apply to positions in several areas. However, the Analyst position takes on more responsibility, akin to that of a real Stifel Analyst role. The program is a nine-week summer session, beginning with thorough training, going into a summer of working alongside senior executives and team members. Analysts work on conducting industry research, building financial models, preparing client presentation materials, and working directly with banking teams. Strong applicants are highly motivated, have some exposure to finance and accounting and/or quantitative modeling, and have a minimum GPA of 3.3
