Eaton's internships run for approximately 12 weeks during the summer and are organized around the same functional tracks as its full-time early-career development programs: engineering services, engineering and technology, technical sales, operations management, information technology, human resources, and finance and accounting. Depending on the track, interns may work on product design and testing, field service engineering, power systems studies, software and embedded systems development, manufacturing and quality improvement projects, financial planning and analysis, or HR generalist support at a plant, division, or corporate office.

Day-to-day work is tied to real assignments rather than simulated projects. Engineering interns might perform circuit or arc-flash studies, develop control system programming, or support product validation and testing; IT interns may contribute to cybersecurity, data science, or software development efforts; and business-track interns typically support budgeting, forecasting, or strategic planning activities within a specific Eaton business unit. Some programs, particularly in operations and technical sales, place interns at manufacturing or customer-facing sites. Interns are exposed to functional and technical skill-building intended to mirror the early stages of Eaton's full-time rotational programs, several of which run two to three years across multiple assignments. Internship performance also factors into consideration for Eaton's full-time early-career programs after graduation.
