Garmin’s internship program provides college students the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to Garmin’s cutting-edge products and technology for aviation, automotive, fitness, marine, and outdoor markets. Students who want to pursue a rewarding career pushing technological boundaries and using their creativity should check out what Garmin has to offer. Internship program durations can vary; most are 12-week internships over the summer, but part-time school year and full-time semester-long co-op opportunities are also available. The majority take place at the company HQ in the Greater Kansas City area, but internships are available in 15 other locations across the country as well. Interns enjoy benefits like paid time off, paid and coordinated housing, exciting social events, Garmin product discounts, and great volunteer opportunities.
The Garmin internship has various areas students can work in. Some of the titles interns can hold include software engineer intern, electrical design engineer intern, aviation systems engineer intern, mechanical engineer intern, process engineer intern, and many more. Consulting the Garmin careers site to see what positions are available for what kind of session is the best way to explore its opportunities.
Garmin looks for high achieving students in their undergraduate or master’s programs for our minimum 12-week summer internship program. Depending on the intern position, we will consider freshmen to graduate students. For our engineering internships, which are the majority of internships we offer, we look for students who are pursuing degrees in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. We prefer well-rounded students who have relevant coursework or experience to fill all of our internships, and are seeking those who work well in groups, communicate effectively, and have a passion for their field of study.
