Olsson's internships are offered across its office network, with placements aligned to academic calendars and a flexible schedule that can include office work, project site visits, or hybrid arrangements rather than a fixed 9-to-5 structure. Interns work on real client projects within disciplines such as civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, drafting and design, landscape architecture, and applied technology, including work with Building Information Modeling software.
Day-to-day, interns are paired with mentors and given meaningful project responsibilities alongside licensed engineers and designers. The firm emphasizes a collaborative, team-based work style and expects interns to ask questions and contribute ideas as part of a two-way learning process with staff.
Aspects of the program include training to build both technical and soft skills, webinars, in-person networking events that expose interns to leaders from across the firm, and competitive pay and benefits, including 401(k) matching and paid volunteer time off.
