About Florida Blue Internship

Florida Blue, a GuideWell company, provides structured, supervised, and meaningful work that undergraduate and graduate students can perform. The internship programs are generally one semester in length, but have the flexibility to extend further based on the project work and availability of the intern. Florida Blue primarily hosts interns during the summer; however, some may take place during the fall or spring semesters.

Florida Blue/GuideWell internships provide a rewarding experience for both the business and the intern by building future talent for the company while giving interns valuable on-the-job, professional experience.

Interns provide managers with:

  • Fresh ideas: Imagination and innovation are values that are embraced at Florida Blue/GuideWell. Getting a new, outside perspective can often bring forth new ideas and process improvements.
  • Trial run: Internships are a way for leaders to see the work ethic, motivation, and abilities of interns who may one day seek full-time employment within the company.

Interns may gain:

  • Networking: In addition to interacting with the team on a daily basis, interns may also interact with leadership, teams from other business units, and other individuals who could become future colleagues. Interns can also gain valuable communication skills.
  • On-the-job experience: Interns will get exposure to the type of work they could be doing as full-time employees. Interns can also gain the confidence and organizational skills needed to become exemplary employees.
  • Professional skill development: The internship is a chance to provide interns with a solid foundation in the healthcare industry. Paired with a college degree, this foundation will make the intern a well-rounded potential employee and give them an edge in the job market.
