Food Lion's internship program runs for approximately 12 weeks over the summer and is based at the company's corporate headquarters in Salisbury, North Carolina. Interns are placed in departments including marketing, finance, retail operations, and merchandising, and are assigned to work on projects intended to have a tangible impact on the business. Throughout the program, participants take part in learning sessions designed to build business knowledge and leadership skills relevant to a retail grocery organization.
Interns also have opportunities to participate in community service activities, connect with peers across the intern cohort, and shadow employees in different departments to learn how various parts of the business operate. The program includes regular touchpoints with company leaders, and it concludes with a final presentation in which interns share their project work and outcomes with business leadership.
