Sotheby’s offers both undergrad and graduate students a summer internship in New York City and an autumn internship in London—its two main locations. Interns are placed in departments aligned with their academic and professional interests—ranging from specialist areas (e.g., contemporary art, impressionist & modern art, wine & spirits) to business support functions like marketing, finance, communications, and technology. Students work alongside full-time staff and gain exposure to the inner workings of a major auction house, handling meaningful projects and networking with all sorts of employees. In addition to work, interns can attend a speaker series that features senior leadership at the company as well as participate in seminars, site tours, and networking events.
