Electronic Arts (EA) offers an exciting summer internship for undergraduate students willing to step up to the plate and become actual members of the EA team. There are internships available in music design, software engineering, art, analytics, administration, and so many more. Gaming is a highly unique and specialized industry, so the only way to really learn is to learn on the job. EA interns do not get assigned special “intern projects.” Instead, they jump right in and function essentially as junior employees. Interns leave the summer internship with a network and community of fellow gamers and are always considered for a full-time offer upon graduation.
A day in the life of an EA intern is busy and exciting. Real interns have described their daily experience as fast-paced, constantly moving, and filled with a lot of communication among the whole team. Interns are directly looped into whatever’s going on at EA, so every summer and every day is different. What remains the same is the great opportunity to gain professional experience and skills in an exciting, growing industry with one of its original trailblazers.
Open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as graduate students. Non-U.S. citizens are also encouraged to apply. Interns assigned to one of the company’s studios are usually pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering, and have strong mathematical and programming backgrounds. For art positions, applicants must have some experience with 3-D graphic software packages. Interns in the company’s production or marketing/public relations departments should have strong verbal and written communication skills.
