Not common application when I applied, UVA had its own specific questions. No interviews. I did early decision, but that is gone now. Financial Aid and Scholarships were not a factor in my admission process.

The curriculum, no matter what school of study, really emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of a complete education. Whether you're in the engineering school or the architecture program, the school provides many opportunities for collaboration across the subjects.

Downers

Fitness facilities are great, including four gyms, all offering different workout options. Athletics on every level, from daily workouts to varsity sports, are huge with the student population and is definitely a draw. The library system, which as 17 libraries and is the 1st backup to the library of Congress, holds millions of resources for undergrad students to reference. likewise, students simply love attending the University, as they call it, and enjoy their time here.

It is worth it. Wonderful school. You will learn a lot.

“Academics are very challenging, but there are so many recourses available to satisfy anyone's needs. If you need to talk to a professor, it'll happen. If you want to study abroad, you can do that too. Literally, the sky is the limit at UVa!”

UVA IS THE BEST!!!! My dorm didn't have air conditioning, but living in a coed dorm was awesome. I've made some of the best friends I've ever had, just by spending so much time with them in my dorm. The campus is BEAUTIFUL! If you're looking for the feeling of "college" when you're on a campus, UVa is the place. The grass is always green, the architecture of the buildings is gorgeous; it just makes you feel happy as you walk to class looking around at such a beautiful campus. The libraries (I don't even know how many we have, but it's definitely a lot!) are AWESOME! The food is decent. It's no mom's home cooking, but it's definitely livable. I love all the people that I'm around when I'm at school and feel so safe and protected whenever I'm on campus. I feel comfortable leaving my laptop and all my belongings at the library unattended for an hour if I need to take a break, and know that no one would touch it. The honor code is great thing to live by! Overall happiness- 11/10!

Downers

UVa used the Common Application as well as two supplemental essays depending on which program you wished to be in (ie. The college of arts and sciences, school of engineering, etc..) The supplement essays were more unique than the general personal statements that most schools asked for in their application essays. For example, for my two essays, I remember I wrote about my favorite word for one, and a piece of science/literature that inspired me. There were no interviews for me, and I don't believe there was any sort of early action/decision.

“Overall, I think most students are very happy. We have great dining services that allow students to be vegetarian and works with food allergies. The Grounds is beautiful, and the University is working on restoring buildings and expanding the University.”

We have the Common Application with a supplement, or you can apply online. The most notable essay question is "what's your favorite word and why?" We do not have any early decision or early action.
