Easy to make friends, Great professors, Accessible Career Services, The professors are accessible and very good teachers, career services is very accessible and knowledgeable and very willing to help, the school has an environment where it is very easy to make friends, spurred on by programs that help this, the scholarship opportunities are very good for those who get them.
DownersLots of negative publicity lately, ATL likes to write bad things about the school, Career services isn't the most clear on how to go about the job search unless you go talk to them one on one so it can feel overwhelming, tuition keeps rising, and I feel like there is inconsistent grading by different professors.
CommentsCharlottesville is a great city, good night life and lots of active stuff to do, I hear a low percentage of people get scholarships, building is kind of drab, the JAG school is right next door, which is cool.

Pretty standard scholarship offers for similarly ranked schools; fairly standard application

Most classes are excellent, with the occassional professor who is too lazy to teach. Few classes use the Socratic method, but second and third year move much more towards lecture and voluntary interaction. Numerous clinics are available giving lots of practical experience. Lots of study abroad opportunities to unique and unusual locations, including Israel. Class sizes vary, but usually manageable.
AdmissionsStandard admissions process, LSDAS common application with general essay/personal statement.

I have not taken classes at any other American law school, so I have nothing to compare it to. Personally, I found them roughly similar in difficulty to undergraduate and Masters classes, although the style was very different. Much more fact and lecture than theory and participation. I liked the clinics for client interaction. Independent research is possible--I'm not sure how it compares to other institutions, however.
Quality of LifeCost of living is rather high for the size of the city, but compared to larger cities typical of top law schools, it is less. The building is nice, but not very "homey." I love Charlottesville and UVA, but law students can be immature. Perhaps because I'm an older student, but I prefer to make a life outside law school, so I cannot really comment on the the UVA law "lifestyle."
