Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that our Campus Recruiters receive:

Why should I start with DHG right out of college?

Whether coming in as an intern or a first-year associate, from day one you will have hands-on experience with exposure to partners, firm leadership and clients of all sizes and industries. We strongly believe in cultivating future leaders and developing and retaining best-in-class talent, because of that our people are presented with a variety of leadership opportunities early on that will help them progress in their careers.

What type of training will I receive?

All of our interns are welcomed to DHG with our DHG Launch orientation. During the week-long training program in Charlotte, N.C., interns hear from various leaders within the firm while learning essentials for their internship.

All full-time new hires are introduced to the firm in their respective office locations with a full-day orientation session. During this session, they will learn about the firm and will gain access to DHG University, our platform for accessing a robust selection of online and classroom training sessions. DHGU makes it easy to access training materials and resources anytime and anywhere. Our collaborative culture also ensures that you will have access to experienced team members who are dedicated to mentoring, coaching and helping you learn and develop essential skills.

What is your company culture like?

Our culture is focused on people first, which is evident in our mission statement and our open-door, transparent atmosphere. We work together as a team and are focused on helping you develop both personally and professionally from day one. Everything we do related to culture is focused on our people, their careers and flexibility, what we refer to as Life Beyond Numbers.

Why should I select DHG over another firm or one of the Big 4?

At DHG you are more than a number, and we view your time with us as a career not just a job. On top of that, your growth and success are top priorities. We are flexible to your career goals and we want you to have a say in the type of work you are doing and the industries you are interested in exploring. Our competitive salaries and benefit packages as well as our intent to make an impact on your overall well-being make DHG a great place to start and grow a career. What can I expect to do during the first two years in terms of assignments and progression?

Right out of the gate you will be immersed in client work, working with different teams and within different industries. The expectation is that you will learn and ask as many questions as possible the first year. As a second-year associate, with a little more experience under your belt, you will be able to help coach and mentor incoming first years and interns. High performing associates often move to the senior associate level after two years’ time.

How involved is DHG in community service?

At DHG, our passion to serve goes well beyond the work we do for our clients. All of our offices are passionate about supporting local community organizations and initiatives and we have several firm-wide programs, such as our annual Count the Cans food drive, that encourage friendly competition among our markets to see who can make the biggest impact. Through our DHG Impact website, employees can easily sign up for local volunteer opportunities and make dollar donations to the causes they’re passionate about – it’s a great way to see the impact we’re making as a firm in all of our communities. Additionally, our annual DHG Community Impact Awards celebrate the individual and the market who have spent the most time volunteering in their respective communities.

How does DHG help employees make the transition from student to professional?

Interns and new associates are paired with a guide and a performance coach on their first day. For interns, guides are in place to help facilitate the transition from college life to professional life by helping answer any questions. For new associates, these mentors are there to answer questions and help guide you through the orientation process with 30-day, 60-day and 90-day check-ins. Tools and resources found within our DHG University curriculum will also help you transition into your new role while professional networking and social events will help you develop key contacts in the industry and within the community.

What are some of the things DHG is doing to promote inclusion and diversity?

For DHG, inclusion and diversity means more than a social responsibility. It is a critical element to achieving our mission of building valuable careers with our people and helping our clients achieve their goals. Through our Inclusion & Diversity Council we are constantly finding new ways to advocate, educate and foster an inclusive environment.

DHG proudly supports the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), with many of our people sitting on NABA boards in their respective markets, as well as The PhD Project, which exists to help minorities attain their PhD in all business disciplines and become the business professors who will teach the next generation of leaders. Additionally, we are always shining a light on our people, their unique stories and our diverse culture through our Life at DHG blog and podcast series. We showcased some of these stories in our inaugural inclusion and diversity publication, click here to read.
