About Citigroup

Citigroup, commonly known as Citi, was originally founded in 1812 as the City Bank of New York. Today, Citi is one of the world’s largest and most widely respected financial institutions. Citi is involved consumer banking, capital markets, advisory services, markets and securities services, private banking, and treasury and trade solutions. Citi is led by its CEO Jane Fraser, the first woman in history to lead a major Wall Street firm. Fraser, who joined Citi in 2004 after spending a decade at the consulting firm McKinsey, took over as chief executive in February 2021.

Citi is part of the prestigious investment banking bulge bracket, a group of the largest global investment banks on the planet. As such, it’s a leader in M&A, IPOs, and debt and equity underwriting. Citi has worked on some of the world’s largest and most important deals, and it regularly ranks near the top of the investment banking league tables, which rank the globe’s top dealmakers. As for its commercial banking operations, Citi has more than 110 million customers throughout the world and more than 2,500 branches.

A socially conscious organization, Citi is heavily focused on D&I and ESG. Citi has committed hundreds of millions of dollars to closing the U.S. racial wealth gap and increasing economic mobility. And its initiative Action for Racial Equity is expanding access to credit in communities of color, investment in Black-owned businesses, and homeownership among Black Americans. Citi offers a vast number of career paths, including finance, global public affairs, sales and trading, consumer banking, investment banking, engineering, marketing, wealth management, risk management, security, and technology.
