VAULT'S VERDICT
In recruiting, Adam Leitman focuses on high-quality candidates from mid-tier schools in the New York City area who can write well. Office settings are pleasant and relaxed, with open doors encouraging friendly conversations. These open lines of communication facilitate strong relationships, especially between associates and partners. Partners are respectful to associates and look to assist them with advice and guidance on matters. Formal training efforts are limited to when new technology is introduced and to funding of CLE courses; otherwise, most learning takes place when associates approach senior attorneys for direction and assistance. The firm helps integrate lateral hires through social events and introductions to attorneys and staff. Work assignments range from drafting documents and engaging in research to making court appearances and interacting with clients. Associates are busy, and they’re expected to be in the office during standard business hours, but there is no billable hour requirement, and work hours aren’t excessive. Salaries are good, and bonuses are based on the amount of fees billed and collected. Firm technology is updated and efficient, though there are some minor issues with finding documents in the firm’s document management system. Wellness efforts include gym reimbursements, occasional massages and manicures, and supportive coworkers. Pro bono work is not a focal point at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. as related work does not generate fees or count toward bonuses. Women are well-represented at the firm, and associates seem unsure about promotion prospects, as the only equity partner is the name partner. Exit options include larger law firms.
