Alston & Bird

Our Survey Says

VAULT'S VERDICT:

Alston & Bird recruits associates with excellent academic performance and work experience from T30 law schools and from schools near regional offices. Coworkers are welcoming and supportive, with an open-door policy that encourages comfortable interaction. Partners treat associates as valued colleagues and are invested in their professional development. Effective training is provided through in-person classes and recorded videos. Laterals are onboarded effectively through mentoring and early assignments. Associate work is sophisticated and engaging, and supervising attorneys support junior attorneys taking on new challenges. Client contact is common. Alston & Bird sets bonus eligibility at 2,000 hours, and up to 150 non-billable hours may be credited to this requirement; an associate can credit all 150 hours for pro bono work or can use 50 of these hours for firm citizenship, such as business development. Salaries and bonuses match the BigLaw market rate. Technology supports the hybrid work arrangement. A wellness team sponsors weekly mindfulness sessions, activity competitions, and an in-office therapist. Pro bono opportunities are publicized through a coordinator, and participation is encouraged. Associates report a clear partnership path as well as the availability of counsel roles. Alston & Bird helps associates seeking new opportunities to find positions in-house or with other firms. Perks include a concierge service, flexible hour arrangements, and subsidized day care.
