About Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP

Esteemed Atlanta law firm Bondurant Mixson & Elmore is prepared to go to trial for its clients, who range from Fortune 50 corporations to individuals. This small boutique is laser-focused on business litigation and is willing to represent clients on either side of a dispute—plaintiff or defendant.

A Supreme Beginning

Bondurant was established in 1977 by Emmet Bondurant, a Georgia-based legal prodigy who argued his first case in the U.S. Supreme Court at the age of 26. Today, the firm remains local to Atlanta and operates with a lean team of around 30 attorneys. The firm only hires from top law schools, and a judicial clerkship certainly won’t hurt.

Victory on Both Sides of the “V”

Bondurant handles high-stakes litigation for any manner of issues that arise in the business world. On the plaintiff side, the firm has claim to the largest jury verdict in Georgia history, with $454 million awarded to plaintiff Six Flags against Time Warner Entertainment. In another record-setting case, Bondurant challenged Turner Broadcasting System in a breach of contract case and won a $281 million jury verdict—the largest compensatory damage award in Georgia history. Bondurant also helped achieve the largest civil/criminal settlement ever in the Northern District of Georgia, to the tune of $600 million, when it represented whistleblowers in a False Claims Act case against a major pharmaceutical company.

The firm is no stranger to wins on the other side either. On the defense side, the firm successfully reversed on appeal a whopping $457 million judgment in a contract dispute for its Fortune 500 client Weyerhauser. In a lawsuit alleging fraud and racketeering, Bondurant successfully defended its nursing home client from an alleged $370 million in damages. The firm also defended Delta Airlines and obtained a complete dismissal of a massive RICO class action brought by plaintiffs alleging that seven major airlines conspired to charge travelers a tourism tax for U.S.-Mexico flights.

Fee Arrangements Designed for Wins

Along with ultra-selective hiring practices and a purposely narrow area of expertise, Bondurant considers alternate fee arrangements to be a major tool in the “big wins” toolbox. When it comes to billing, the firm is an advocate for solutions beyond the standard hourly rate. It offers clients fixed fee, contingency fee, and other customized fee arrangements, which often include risk-sharing along with bonuses for a specified outcome.
