Social Mobility
In 2018, Brown Rudnick launched its 1L First Generation Professional Fellowship, which is open to 1Ls who are the first in their families to graduate from college. Fellows join the firm as summer associates, but during the school year they are also invited to the firm for events and training opportunities. They also receive ongoing coaching from the firm. Finally, in addition to the summer associate salary, fellows are eligible for a scholarship of more than $30,000.
News & Awards
- Brown Rudnick represented the state of Massachusetts in its successful prosecution of claims against the tobacco industry. With the fees collected for its work on the case, the firm started its Brown Rudnick Center for the Public Interest.
- Brown Rudnick represented medical technology innovator Hologic in its $6.2 billion merger with Cytyc Corp., creating one of the world’s largest companies focused on advanced technology in women’s health care.
- In one of the most consequential mass tort litigations in the U.S., Brown Rudnick twice helped defeat Johnson & Johnson’s “Texas two-step” attempts to use bankruptcy to resolve claims its talc products caused cancer. The victories allow tens of thousands of victims to seek justice through the courts.
- Brown Rudnick won a jury verdict for actor Johnny Depp in his high-profile defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, bringing global attention to the firm and thrusting the lead lawyers into the spotlight.
