Although associates frequently interact over free coffee served by office baristas, they value life outside work, which the firm respects. The firm often hires associates from top law schools and regional schools in the New York market. Competitive candidates demonstrate a solid academic record, compassion, and communication skills. Associates receive work assignments through a centralized staffing team, which balances hours among associates, and they can work remotely up to twice per week. The firm does not mandate a formal billable hours requirement for associates to earn a bonus, preferring to issue a soft target and to focus on training legal skills. The firm offers formal training during new-employee orientation, which includes law-specific business content and extensive AI-based programming. In addition, associates receive partner advisors, with whom they develop personal relationships over time and receive feedback based on colleague input during performance reviews.
