My interactions were natural. My favorite social events usually took place after the main event, when those of us who wanted to continue would find a casual bar. • “I think the biggest difference is the pace. As a summer, you're encouraged to learn and take your time. But as a first year, the billable hour kicks in and the workload increases. And while I think this is true regardless of practice area or firm, I think one thing I would like to see is greater explanation of the billable hour, how it works, and how it breaks down day-to-day. I've gotten this instruction thanks to my mentor as a first year, but it would have been really helpful to prepare myself as a summer (especially because I have no attorneys in my family and didn't really understand how a billable hour differed from a regular 9-5).”
