MoloLamken’s rigorous interview process focuses on candidates from top law schools with federal clerkship experience. Coworkers are pleasant, professional, collaborative, and accessible. Partners treat associates as colleagues, seek their input on matters, and care about their development. Associate and partner mentors supplement formal trial advocacy trainings, providing continuous learning opportunities. Laterals undergo training and are assigned cases early on. Projects are leanly staffed, so associates get a full range of high-level, meaningful work. MoloLamken endeavors to distribute work evenly so that associates aren’t overwhelmed, and while there isn’t a set billable requirement, associates are generally billing over 1,800 hours per year (and more likely to be in the 2,000-2,100 range). Compensation, including generous clerkship bonuses, is above the prevailing BigLaw rate. Firm technology, including timekeeping services, has improved and the IT department works to incorporate the latest advancements. Wellness initiatives include presentations and in-office food offerings, and a focus on overall attorney well-being, including respecting time off, is built into the firm’s culture. Pro bono work is available but attorneys often have limited capacity for it. Career prospects for promotion to counsel and income partner roles are realistic, and common landing spots for those who leave include in-house and government roles
