About Nossaman LLP
Founded in Los Angeles in 1942, Nossaman LLP has remained a key player in California law and politics. The firm has pushed beyond the state’s borders to establish offices in Austin, TX; Denver, CO; New York, NY; Phoenix, AZ; Seattle, WA; Tucson, AZ; and Washington, DC.
LA Law
The firm was formed in Los Angeles when Walter Nossaman and Joseph Brady launched an eponymous office specializing in tax law. Nossaman wrote the book on trusts when he penned Trusts Administration and Taxation—an updated version of which is still published today. When Brady retired in 1962, Nossaman and his team merged with another tax firm to form Nossaman, Thompson, Moss, Scott & Riordan; name partner Richard Riordon served as Los Angeles’ mayor through most of the 1990s. Over subsequent decades, the firm continued to expand through mergers, including pairing with Washington, DC, firm O’Connor & Hannan in 2008, and by opening new offices. After the 2008 merger, the firm dropped all its other names to become simply Nossaman LLP.
Holistic Lawyering
Nossaman focuses on infrastructure; environmental law; litigation; healthcare; real estate; pensions, benefits and investments; government relations; and corporate law for clients in a number of industries. The firm has worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Lockheed Martin Corporation, 24 Hour Fitness, Brookfield Development, and Southern California Edison.
Nossaman counsels public sector clients, including government agencies, on a range of topics, such as employment, healthcare, litigation, natural resources, and real estate. When it comes to litigation, the firm has experience at trial, with appellate work, and in alternative dispute resolution. Its litigators represent clients in antitrust, environmental law, financial services, healthcare, insurance, real estate, and technology matters.
Nossaman takes a holistic approach to meeting its clients’ needs. For example, clients seeking advice on transactional matters will benefit from attorneys’ experience in employment, health law, intellectual property, real estate, and other legal areas.
