Our Survey Says
VAULT'S VERDICT:
If you enjoy flexibility and don’t mind long hours, Paul, Weiss may be a perfect fit for you. The culture is collaborative and pleasant, and partners are respectful of associates and reasonably transparent on most matters. The firm has no billable hour requirement, but hours tend to be long; that said, salaries and bonuses are fair and lockstep, and ultra-high billers receive additional discretionary bonuses as well. Work is generally substantive and appropriate to skill level, and tech isn’t bleeding-edge but is generally adequate for all purposes. The firm has generous wellness initiatives for those who make time for them. Training is strong, and mentorship is excellent for those who proactively seek it out. Equity partnership is realistic for those willing to make the sacrifices needed to attain it; counsel roles are also available and viable, and exit opportunities are strong. The firm has an exceptional pro bono program and treats all pro bono hours as billable. Associates regard the firm as an industry leader in DEI, which means the firm is making real efforts and, in general, is ahead of the curve for BigLaw firms.
