A Tale of Mergers
In the late 1800s, Squire Sanders was founded in Cleveland, OH. Around the same time, AV Hammond opened shop in Bradford, England. Organic growth on both sides of the Atlantic firmly established these firms as significant legal forces over the years. In 2011, the two firms merged, creating one firm with a solid presence in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Western Europe. Three short years later, DC-lobbying powerhouse Patton Boggs came on board, creating Squire Patton Boggs. Since then, the firm has been a fixture on Law360’s annual rankings of firms with the largest international presence and lawyers with cross-border experience.
