Cross-Border Strength

The firm was founded in 1941 by prominent Toronto business lawyer John Stewart Donald Tory. Mr. Tory’s sons took over in 1965, growing the firm by maintaining and developing relationships with leading corporate clients and adding a litigation practice. In 2000 the firm merged with a 50-year-old New York corporate firm and rebranded as Torys LLP. The opening of Torys New York moved the firm into position as a leading Canada/U.S. cross-border firm.
