Our Survey Says
- “The firm prioritized giving substantive work in a variety of practice areas so summer associates could begin to determine which areas they had deeper interest in. Summer associates attend weekly trainings on various practice tools and practice groups.”
- “The firm does a great job at giving summer associates real substantive work opportunities. In addition, the firm ensures that summer associates are given feedback on all projects completed during the summer, which was greatly appreciated.”
- “We had constant social programs throughout our summer that made us feel connected to the firm’s culture and its people. Whether it be a cooking class, a long backpacking-style hike, or a canoe weekend, we got to have fun while getting to know the firm.”
- “Summer associates are encouraged to get to know as many attorneys as possible. The firm hosts a minimum of one social event per week with various attorneys from different offices. Summer associates are encouraged to become friends with their classmates and develop strong connections across levels at the firm.”
- “My favorite summer event at Warner Norcross + Judd was the weekend river rafting trip. We all traveled to a relatively distant spot in Michigan to some rental cabins. We all set out on the river for several hours on our rafts, having drinks, eating snacks, listening to music, and bonding with one another and the various associates, partners, and staff that came along. When we got back, we had a catered dinner before going to roast marshmallows over a fire, play games, and play music. In the morning, we had a catered breakfast and wandered around the grounds near the cabins before eventually heading out.”
- “My favorite event was going up north to some sand dunes where we drove around on dune buggies and went boating and swimming [at] a nearby lake.”
- “Honestly, my experience practicing at my firm has not differed from the expectations I had when I was a summer associate. Obviously, being a summer involved more fun and activities, but every associate and partner gave us a very realistic image of what it meant to be an associate at the firm.”
- “Attorneys were extremely focused on teaching summers about associate life. There were no surprise expectations upon starting. The only adjustment came with the billable hour requirement. Summer associates are not required to meet firm billable-hour goals.”
