About Comcast Corporation
Founded in 1963 as American Cable Systems, and headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, Comcast Corporation is one of the top three leading broadcasting and cable television companies in the world by revenue and includes such large entertainment/broadcasting companies as NBCUniversal (including its theme parks), Xfinity, and Sky UK among its many divisions. In the U.S., Comcast is the largest pay-TV and cable TV company, as well as the largest home internet provider, and the nation’s third-largest home telephone service provider. The company also has divisions covering home security systems, theme parks, and venture capital, to mention a few.
Comcast’s RISE (Representation, Investment, Strength, Empowerment) initiative has awarded marketing and technology resources to more than 700 Black-owned small businesses in the past several years. These enterprises will receive consulting, media, and creative production services from Effectv, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable, or technology upgrades based on their specific needs from Comcast Business. Comcast also launched the RISE Investment Fund to give $5 million in grants to hundreds of minority-owned small businesses. In 2021, Comcast pledged $1 billion over 10 years to help close the digital divide between high- and low-income communities.
Comcast was recently by Fortune magazine as one of the top-ten big companies to work for in the U.S. Some of the highlighted perks of working for Comcast included telecommuting options, subsidized childcare, compressed work weeks, health insurance for part-time workers, and college tuition reimbursement.
