About NBCUniversal
Ongoing through several name changes and even different corporate ownerships, NBC and Universal have had a partnership since 1950, when Universal began supplying a number of shows to the broadcaster. One of many companies owned by Comcast (purchase completed in 2013), NBCUniversal then has multiple departments, divisions, and networks of its own to run, including Universal Studios, Telemundo, Peacock, and the Universal Parks & Resorts properties.
NBCUniversal has a lot to offer its employees in the way of benefits—and the gamechanger for many employees are the benefits that you could only get from such a media/entertainment colossus: sneak previews of films and television shows, and reduced rates and discounts at the multitude of theme parks and resorts, among others.
But those reduced rates would not be much if it wasn’t for the plethora of less frivolous benefits offered: The NBCUniversal paid parental leave provides 16 weeks off for the primary caregiver (with a phased back-to-work program) and two weeks off for a non-primary caregiver. To assist an employee in getting that parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance and child and adult care programs are also provided. In addition to the comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, there are on-site medical centers and fitness centers. NBCUniversal makes available tuition reimbursement and skill enhancement curriculum support, while in addition to stock options and financial planning assistance, the company’s 401(k) plan offers automatic enrollment along with dollar-for-dollar matching, up to the first 6 percent of the employee’s eligible pay contributed. There are also further benefits for career development, transportation, and others.
