The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) predicts that employment for USPS postal clerks will decline by 3 percent from 2023 through 2033 because of technological developments, including automation and electronic sorting devices, use of private delivery companies, and e-mail. Currently, the U.S. Postal Service does very little hiring of any positions. More opportunities will exist with commercial delivery companies such as FedEx and UPS.
