Harvey's internships are structured as 12-week programs, typically running from May through September to align with the academic calendar. Interns are based in one of Harvey's offices, such as San Francisco or New York. On the engineering side, interns join the product engineering team and contribute to the application-layer and generative AI systems that power Harvey's products, collaborating with colleagues on the AI, legal, and go-to-market teams to build secure, usable tools for law firms and corporate legal departments. On the legal side, interns are embedded in Harvey's in-house legal or strategic partnerships functions, where they support the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial AI and technology agreements, help develop partnership initiatives such as programs with law schools, and gain exposure to the legal and business considerations of running a high-growth AI company.

Across tracks, interns are paired with experienced staff who provide mentorship and guidance, and they are given substantive responsibilities rather than administrative support work. The experience is designed to build practical skills relevant to each discipline: for engineering interns, hands-on work with modern AI product development; for legal interns, applied experience in contract work, legal research, and the intersection of law and technology. Interns are treated as contributors to a small, fast-moving organization.
