About rand* construction Internship Program

Rand's construction internship program runs for approximately 12 weeks, typically over the summer, and is open to undergraduates studying construction management, engineering, architecture, or related disciplines starting as early as their sophomore year. Interns are paired with project teams in the field and in the office, giving them a view into how commercial construction projects are planned, staffed, and executed from preconstruction through closeout.

Day to day, interns can expect to read and interpret blueprints, attend project site visits, and shadow project managers and superintendents as they coordinate subcontractors, schedules, and budgets. Training in Procore is a standard part of the experience, along with safety orientation appropriate to active construction environments. Interns typically rotate through or are exposed to multiple functions, including project management, field operations, and preconstruction, depending on office and project needs.

A separate marketing and communications internship track exists for students interested in the business side of the company, focusing on written communication, social media content, and general office proficiency rather than construction fieldwork.

Across tracks, interns gain practical exposure to how a construction company operates a project, develop familiarity with industry-standard software, and build working relationships with project managers and tradespeople.
