The L.E.K. Consulting Summer Program is designed to provide students with a dynamic, hands-on experience in the professional world. This immersive opportunity allows participants to contribute meaningfully to real-world projects while developing key skills necessary for their future careers. The program spans nine weeks and is tailored to different career levels, with roles designed specifically for Summer Associates and Summer Consultants.
Summer Associates are top-performing undergraduates, typically juniors, who are interested in gaining insight into a consulting career. This internship involves nine weeks of real casework experience working as part of a team.
Associates are the core of the firm’s case teams. The insights L.E.K. develops for its clients are based on the strong research and analytical skills of associates. A summer associate’s workstream is the same as a full-time associate's. While individual tasks can vary, interns may be responsible for primary and secondary data gathering and analysis; leading interviews with key stakeholders; and working with the team to derive insights, conclusions, and recommendations based on their work. A summer associate will learn how to transform their work into clear insights for the client.
Summer Consultants are top-performing first-year MBA candidates interested in gaining insight into a consulting career. This internship is available in many of L.E.K.’s offices and involves nine weeks of real casework experience as part of a team.
Consultants are the most experienced case team members, dedicating 100 percent of their time to a single engagement; as a result, the consultant has responsibility for guiding and managing the case team. Summer consultants’ workstreams are similar to those of full-time consultants. While individual tasks can vary, interns may be responsible for identifying critical issues, structuring analyses, managing associates’ day-to-day activities, cracking the case, communicating the insights, and participating in the delivery of the answer to the client.
Applicants must have years of relevant business experience and typically be moving toward MBA degree.
The Summer Associate internship is only available to students between their junior and senior year. A complete application consists of a resume, cover letter stating geographic preference, and a copy of your unofficial college transcript. L.E.K. does not have a rigid checklist of qualities a potential Summer Associate must possess. Rather, our recruiting experience has shown that outstanding academic achievement, comfort with quantitative analysis, notable extracurricular interests, and demonstrated leadership and initiative are excellent preparation for a position within the Summer Associate Program at L.E.K. Consulting.
