The know-how to turn insights into action by addressing the capabilities, resourcing, coordination, and cultural and accountability barriers that often prevent a good strategy from fulfilling its potential.
The firm advises and supports global companies that are leaders in their industries — including the largest private- and public-sector organizations, private equity firms, and emerging entrepreneurial businesses. Founded in 1983, L.E.K. employs more than 2,000 professionals across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
Offering a helping hand
L.E.K. takes its responsibilities—especially its social responsibilities—seriously. Since 2006, L.E.K. has been driving social impact through its pro bono initiative. In 2018, the firm doubled its commitment to pro bono clients annually in the U.S. L.E.K. has provided pro bono consulting, volunteers, and/or financial donations for over one hundred nonprofits and charitable organizations, including the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Cara Program, and Australians Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Examples of the firm’s pro bono work include projects such as L.E.K.’s San Francisco office partnering with The Bay Area Global Health Alliance to help drive a successful launch of The Alliance by helping its founders develop a better understanding of several core issues. Additionally, L.E.K.’s Boston office helped The Boch Center, a leading nonprofit arts institution in New England, to tackle some of its challenges with rising costs and declining levels of participation among younger audiences and patrons.
Social responsibility doesn’t end at pro bono work—being environmentally conscious is another of the firm’s priorities. In 2008, L.E.K. became the first management consultancy to achieve carbon neutrality in its global operations through reducing emissions and purchasing carbon offsets. L.E.K. aims to have its offices that aren’t already powered by renewable energy transferred to sustainable sources in as short a timeframe as possible. The firm continually works with its employees to adopt principles and practices that reduce their carbon emissions. Those may relate to travel, hybrid work arrangements, and firm and client events. In addition, L.E.K. has a network of “green” committees in each of its offices charged with creating avenues for employees to participate in L.E.K.’s sustainability efforts and help develop and encourage initiatives that reduce carbon footprint. In 2023, L.E.K. received a “gold” rating from EcoVadis and was the first major consulting firm to have long-term carbon reduction targets (aligned to the Paris Agreement) approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.
