At Amazon, interns are valuable contributors on projects that directly impact the experience for customers. Interns who join Amazon become part of an innovative and fast-paced workplace; there is ample opportunity for them to work on complex and challenging problems that can impact millions of Amazon customers. The internship program is a great way to explore working at Amazon and gain hands-on experience across different disciplines.
To help support their interns' growth and ability to deliver on projects, Amazon offers robust training modules, on-the-job and experiential learning methods, guided mentorship, and a senior leader presentation series. The University Programs Team also hosts multiple events during the internship cycle. The following is a breakdown of Amazon's internship programs:
MBA Internships:Â Amazon is growing and needs MBA interns who are owners capable of breaking down and solving complex problems, and who have a strong will to get things done. From day one, interns will have the autonomy to think strategically, make decisions, and drive significant impact to the customer experience and the business. An Amazon MBA internship consists of a strategic project that is data intensive, analytical, centered on a real business issue, and representative of a full-time role. Interns will have ownership of a high-profile project where they will partner with key business groups and clients. By participating in the internship, they will have opportunities to drive meaningful change. Each intern will have exposure to senior leaders and the opportunity to apply general business skills to execute corporate strategies. The internship could lead to a full-time role. Â
PhD Internships: At Amazon, PhD interns are active team members on the company's engineering teams. They contribute to solving a diverse set of technical problems across large scale platforms using machine learning, large data sets and cloud computing. Interns assist the benchmarking and future development of existing software applications across Amazon. They also help develop novel and highly scalable applications that optimize Amazon’s systems using cutting edge quantitative techniques. Amazon interns help build innovative algorithms that model patterns within data to drive automated decisions at scale in all corners of the company, including the ecommerce site, subsidiaries, Amazon Web Services, seller & buyer services, and digital media & Kindle.Â
University Non-Tech Internships: Amazon is looking for students who are leaders with the ability to motivate, mentor, and engage, as well as those who will have ideas on how to improve the company's processes and who aren’t afraid to think big. Amazon offers a multitude of undergraduate internships for rising seniors in fields such as marketing, finance, sales, operations, and planning. A full-time job may be offered at the end of the program.
University Tech Internships: Technical interns will design and develop technical solutions for unsolved problems at massive scale. Interns will work alongside a technical mentor and manager to pair an intern's good ideas with hard work to reinvent normal for Amazon’s global customers. With access to cutting edge technology, interns will work to create the right solutions that are the most useful for customers. In each technical role, interns will be asked to build and own end-to-end solutions. A full-time job may be offered at the end of the internship program.
